CALL for clips

Are you dealing with climate neutral cities? Whether you are an academic, designer, policymaker, citizen or entrepreneur, have your say and contribute to the NEXTBUILT challenge 2023! 

NEXTBUILT Observatory calls for video clips to explain a strategy, design solution, or case study that can strongly contribute to reach climate neutral cities by 2030.  

technical requirements

Clips must be less than 180 seconds but catchy and clear enough to frame the context, the object and the potential impact of the proposed solutionShare your experience, expectations, and ambitions and contribute to expanding the discourse about climate-responsive solutions, community-driven strategies and effective pathways towards the city vision of tomorrow.

Videos should be in .mp4 format, no more than 500 Mb; resolution should be 1920 x 1080 pixels. Videos must be send via email (WeTransfer is accepted).

LANGUAGE

The video can be in any language but must have subtitles in the English language; narration and musical background are allowed.

SUBMISSION

  • Only one video per applicant (less than 180 seconds)
  • A statement about the content of your video (100 words).
  • A short 100-word biography about you (educational background, current interests, etc.).
  • Your contact details. 
  • Copyright permission signed.

DEADLINE

The application (video + PDF document) must be submitted by email at info@next-built.org by April, 28th 2023 at 11.59 pm (CET), but please reach out to us by email by April, 3rd to confirm your willingness to participate. 

AWARDS

The best 3 clips will be voted during the NEXTBUILT Workshop that will take place on May 10th-11th 2023. The first will get the fee waived for NEXTBUILT International Conference 2024; the other two will receive a special discount

COPYRIGHT AND PERMISSIONS

Your video must contain original content. All images, video clips and music used in your video must either be licensed to you or have Creative Commons permission. If you have invited individuals to appear in your video, they have given written consent to appear in the video and have been informed that it is going to be submitted to this competition. We will provide you with details regarding the consent and license to use your video.

It’s free. There is no fee to enter. 

The videos will be hosted on this website. Applicants will be given detailed instructions for submitting via email their videos to the organisers. We will upload the videos on the entrants’ behalf on our NEXT BUILT website.

The judges will consist of academic and professional experts in the field of the built environment and the participants of the NEXTBUILT Workshop.

All facets of built environment research are welcome. A broad understanding of built environment is given. If you are not sure your research matches the scope of the video challenge, our NEXTBUILT team (info@next-built.org) will be happy to answer your questions.

All applicants will be informed by May, 15th 2023.
